Hindhead Golf Club
England
Hindhead Golf Club overview
Founded in 1904, Hindhead Golf Club boasts over a century of rich golfing heritage. Among its original founders was none other than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and since then, the club has remained a cornerstone of traditional English golf. Hindhead was an Open Championship Regional Qualifying venue from 2000 to 2005, cementing its reputation as a top-quality test of golf.
Today, Hindhead continues to thrive both on and off the course. The clubhouse was extensively refurbished in 2020, blending modern comfort with timeless charm. Members and guests can enjoy a traditional Snooker Room for post-round competition and a beautiful Terrace overlooking the 18th green, offering a perfect spot to watch players finish in dramatic fashion.
Hindhead is consistently recognised as one of the finest courses in the country – it is ranked in the Top 50 Courses in England and the Top 100 in the UK by Top 100 Golf Courses.
Golf Course at Hindhead Golf Club
This stunning heathland layout was originally designed by J.H. Taylor and James Braid, two legendary figures in golf course architecture. Their influence is evident in the course's natural routing, clever bunkering, and the need for strategic shot-making throughout the round.
The course features five sets of tees, offering a fair challenge to golfers of all levels. In classic style, the layout leads players away from the clubhouse on the front nine and returns them on the back, with the 18th green sitting right in front of the clubhouse for a memorable and dramatic conclusion.
Signature Holes
Arguably Hindhead’s most iconic hole, the 6th is a short, downhill par 3 that features a dramatic drop in elevation and a beautifully contoured green. With tricky slopes and subtle breaks, walking away with par is never guaranteed - even with a short iron in hand.
