Cyprus is a fantastic choice for your next golfing holiday. Not only does it boast a phenomenal climate throughout the year, making it particularly appealing at the start or end of the season, but it also boasts some incredible layouts. So much so, that the DP World Tour has taken to hosting more regular events on the island, with the world’s best enjoying soaking up everything Cyprus has to offer.

Our expert team are always on hand to help you plan the perfect itinerary for your next trip, but check out some of the best golf courses in Cyprus below in the meantime.

Elea Golf Club

Sir Nick Faldo has put his name to some of our most-loved courses in Europe – notably at Amendoeira in Portugal and Loch Erne in Ireland. However, his stunning design at Elea sits right beside these iconic designs and is often regarded as Cyprus’ best layout.

There’s an abundance of bunkers at Elea, although don’t let this intimidate, as a huge variety of teeing options can change the total length by more than 1,000 yards – making it eminently playable for all. The greens are sloped and quick, but run true, ensuring a good putt is always rewarded.

The course was initially opened for play in 2010 and makes use of the nearby Aphrodite Hills resort to create an unbeatable combination of golf and accommodation. As the design winds its way amongst the carob trees, you’re spoiled with views of the Mediterranean sea, with the excellent clubhouse one of our favourite spots in golf to chill out for a post-round drink. All in all, if you’re heading to Cyprus, you need to add Elea to your itinerary.

Following an extensive renovation of the property’s greens in 2017, the PGA Cyprus course is now thought of as one of the best conditioned on the island and is the perfect holiday layout. It is a testing design, whilst being open enough to prevent losing golf balls with regularity. Ideal, particularly for those with a morning tee-time following a late night in the resort!

The course’s elevation changes provide stunning views of the Mediterranean, with Secret Valley a glorious mix of sandy areas and tree-lined fairways. The course follows a traditional out-and-back links routing, with the par-3 9th hole the furthest point away from the clubhouse. However, on-course refreshments will ensure you’re fuelled up for the latter holes. And, if you just fancy a short visit, there’s even a 3-hole floodlit loop which allows for play late into the evening!

The course at Minthis Hills features Cyprus’ only island green, on the iconic 15th hole, with the design also winding around a 12th century monastery. This is another course which has seen a recent renovation, this time by the much-lauded firm MacKenzie & Ebert. With the changes made helping to bring Minthis Hills up to the same standard as those mentioned elsewhere in this article. All in, it’s a fabulous addition to any break to Cyprus, or as the main base for your golf if staying within the Minthis Resort.

Feeling inspired?
In addition to a great climate, a large variety of golf courses and luxurious resorts, Cyprus offers an abundance of culture and heritage as well as excellent golf.
