Of the two courses at Royal County Down, it's the Championship course that receives the most plaudits, often being voted the best course in the UK. The shorter Annesley Course is no less enjoyable and is well worth playing on a golf break.
18 holes, 72 par, 6968 yards. Links.
With a picturesque setting in the Irish hills, the Championship Links Golf Course is one of the finest in the country. Desgned in 1889, by golf course designer Tom Morris, it has earned a great reputation for its challenging holes which will find even the top players struggling to make birdies. The well kept fairways are a joy to play, and the strategically placed bunkers and quick greens make this a tough, but most enjoyable round of golf.
Royal County Down Golf Club is located in Newcastle, just a 50 minute drive from Belfast Airport.
