The New Course

Walton Heath Golf Club is extremely well respected and prestigious having hosted numerous close to 90 amateur and professional tournaments – namely the Ryder Cup in 1981. There are two layouts located on-site, The Old Course and The New Course. Although the Old Course takes most of the limelight, the New is not far off and still boasts being one of England’s best heathland courses.

The New Course at Walton Heath was opened for play in 1907 by Herbert Fowler as a 9-hole layout, who later extend it to 18-holes in 1913. Both the Old and New courses intertwine so you tend to get the same remarkable inland/links feel across both of these remarkable courses.

The Course itself is a very challenging prospect. Although the first stretch of holes are relatively simple, the courses progresses throughout the round to become more exciting, more challenging, and generally more fun. The back nine is longer than the first, with a stunning set of par 4s and 5s to enjoy throughout.

Walton Heath New Course really is a charming layout. A great match for the legendary Old Course and a more than suitable course to add to your Surrey golf tour.
