What makes a golf break in the Highlands so special?

Golf in Scotland is possibly its most popular pastime and sport, however golf in the highlands remains relatively unheralded by many, yet the Highlands golf courses certainly live up to the quality and historic value that the more known courses further south do, meaning that golfers are near enough guaranteed to receive a fantastic quality experience for a fraction of the price.

The Highlands have many courses of note, however, a favourite of ours is certainly Castle Stuart Golf Links, a contemporary links course located 20 minutes from Inverness Airport. This golf course only opened in 2009, yet the land has taken so well to it that golfers could be fooled into thinking this outstanding course has existed for 150 years. Another customer favourite of the Highlands is Royal Dornoch and its two courses.

The Championship Course is consistently voted into the Top 20 courses globally, yet surprisingly it still hasn’t hosted The Open, and the Struie Course which although it lives in the shadow of the Championship Course has earned itself significant repute.

Quaint bars, restaurants & picturesque scenery

The Highlands of Scotland, though sparsely populated, is an ideal base to explore the North of the country. Not only do you have quaint traditional bars and restaurants in the area, but also fantastic accommodation options and the golf courses are surrounded by picturesque scenery. What’s more, the town is easily accessible. You don’t have to worry about booking expensive flights. Discover fantastic golf right on your doorstep and make your Scotland golf tour happen.

In the Highlands, you can leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind, relax and enjoy some of the world’s best courses. Why would you need to travel anywhere else? Many of the golf courses are unheralded and best experienced from the lively city of Inverness that boasts an amazing atmosphere that keeps golfers returning year after year.
