What are the best resorts for a golf holiday in Greece?

Greece is not often considered as a first choice by players looking for a golfing destination, however, those who take a chance on this southern European nation are often left pleasantly surprised by the quality and style of Greece's golf resorts.

Crete Golf Club and Hotel is a modern five-star resort that hosts 25 suites, facilitated with extra-long beds and marble bathrooms, complete with panoramic ocean views of the Aegean Sea. The onsite clubhouse provides an array of Cretan dishes, while the Veranda bar that overlooks the 18th hole serves up a vast selection of beverages. Furthermore, the resort is home to the only international standard 18-hole golf course on the island, built into the existing landscape in a desert-style course on a mountainous platform. This resort is the perfect getaway for golfers looking for a relaxing and peaceful holiday.

Corfu Holiday Palace is a five-star private beachfront hotel perfect for a relaxing getaway. Overflowing with traditional architecture, the venue pays tribute to the authentic 70’s style while including a modern internal amenity. When it comes to food there is a buffet breakfast available, traditional Japanese cuisine at the Sushi Bar, and a variety of Greek, Mediterranean, and Corfiot cuisine at La Veranda di Corfu – the hotel’s fine dining restaurant. Alongside the private beach and swimming pool, the Spa & Wellness Centre at Corfu Holiday Palace is the perfect place to rejuvenate and invigorate your senses. Just 16km from the hotel you will discover the 18-hole championship course at Corfu Golf Club. Designed by Donald Harradine, this Greek gem is tucked away in the oasis of Ropa Valley.

The Westin Resort Costa Navarino has earned itself the title of one of the best golf resorts in Europe. The Westin is a peaceful retreat located on the Messinian beachfront offering stunning views over the Mediterranean Sea. It is home to four spectacular golf courses The Dunes Golf Course, Bay Course, The International Olympic Academy Course and The Hills Course. Away from the fairways the venue offers a wide range of dining options for guests to enjoy. When playing in Greece, golfers will want to check out the four magnificent courses at Costa Navarino, one of the best golf resorts in Europe. This perfectly relaxing getaway is situated in the beautiful mainland of Greece and offers luxury throughout your stay.

The Dunes Course is a Bernhard Langer design and the first signature course of Greece, and it certainly shows it. The course measures in at 6581 yards in length at a par-72, offering golfers exceptional views of the sea and nearby river, whilst its tall rough, bunkers and dunes make life difficult if you come off the fairways.

The Bay Course although not as challenging as The Dunes, is still an excellent test of a golfer’s metal. Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, it is a fun and enjoyable course to play, offering some truly marvellous views of the historic bay of Navarino.

There are two new additions to Costa Navarino, both of which were designed by Masters champion José María Olazábal. The first of these is the International Olympic Academy Course. Totalling 6,961 yards this course will mesmerise you with its magnificent backdrops of the surrounding countryside. The layout combines mischievously placed water hazards and excellently positioned bunkers to test golfers of all abilities.

The Hills Course takes golfing backdrops to the next level overlooking the Greek coastline with panoramic views of the Ionian Sea. The club offers state-of-the-art facilities such as a driving range, a short-game area, and a beautifully traditional clubhouse. Providing both spectacular views and challenging layouts, these two new courses should undoubtedly be on your Greece golf holiday bucket list.
