Golf de Saint-Germain introduction
The Golf de Saint-Germain is a private and prestigious golf club open to visitors only during the week, from Tuesday to Friday. You will find two courses on site, Le Grand Parcours (The Big Course): 18-holes designed by Harry S. Colt. - often ranked amongst the best courses in Continental Europe (17th in 2017). Les Genêts is the 9-hole course, also designed by Harry S. Colt. This venue has been host to the Open de France 9 times as well as many international tournaments.
Golf de Saint-Germain information
27 holes, 72 par, 6734 yards. Parkland.
The 18-hole course is not too long but very technical, the course flows through the majestic trees of the Saint-Germain forest. You will need to be very precise to reach the greens, often raised and admirably protected by some bunkers. You will probably not use your driver very often on this course except maybe on the 12th hole, a 430 yard par-4 or on the 15th, a par 5 reachable in two shots.
The greens are perfectly maintained, however, very undulating - you will need to be accurate with your approach shots otherwise you will find a few concealed slopes. The course is overall quite difficult so you will have to use good course management if you want to score well, as any taken risks can quickly lead to a bogey or worse.
Golf de Saint-Germain Location
The course is located around 25 minutes drive west of Paris - you can either take the Eurotunnel and drive from Calais to Saint-Germain or fly to one of the two Paris airports.
