There are plenty of golf courses near train stations in the UK, many of which have hosted Open Championships, such as Royal Troon, as well as the likes of the Ryder Cup hosting Gleneagles. This list of 10 golf courses you can play by train, sees golfers almost fall out of the train onto the 1st tee. And with Golfbreaks, you can enjoy your next golf break at any one of these courses.

At just 400ft, train stations do not sit much closer to a golf course than at Prestwick Golf Club – known as the “Birthplace of the Open Championship”. There aren’t many stretches of golfing terrain that can rival the land that Prestwick sits on. For any discerning lover of links golf, Prestwick is a must play.
