Golf courses near to Ardgowan Hotel
The Championship Course at Carnoustie is one of Scotland’s iconic courses and regular host of The Open since 1931. A tough test, this course is regarded as the most difficult Open Championship course.

Leven Links Golf Course
Leven Links is one of the oldest and most historical golf clubs in the world. Located just 10 miles south of St Andrews with wonderful views out to Largo Bay. Ranked top 50 in Scotland.
Lundin Golf Course
Lundin Links, located just 30 minutes south of St Andrews and dating back to 1868, is originally an Old Tom Morris design then James Braid. An authentic links that ranks amongst Scotland’s top 35.
Kingsbarns Golf Links
Situated on the east coast of Scotland and just 7 miles from St Andrews, Kingsbarns, is widely regarded as one of the UK’s best courses, certainly a must-play when visiting the area of Fife.
Elie Golf Links
Elie Golf Club dates back to 1832 and is an outstanding links gem that effortlessly combines undulating fairways with large, fast greens and magnificent views over the Firth of Forth.
A great Old Tom Morris design dating back over 100 years, this is links golf as it used to be played with many of the original hole routings still in play today. A short layout but nonetheless a true test.
Perhaps the most underrated of the St Andrews courses, the Jubilee is full of character and variety. Originally opened in 1897, it underwent changes in 1988 to elevate it to championship standard.
Often overshadowed by the Old Course, the New Course is a very enjoyable links layout that will test all parts of your game. Opened in 1895 and therefore one of the oldest ‘new’ courses in the world.
Founded in 1832, the West Links at North Berwick is ranked top 5 in Scotland and top 50 in the world. Located very conveniently just east of Edinburgh along Scotland’s Golf Coast.
The world’s oldest and most iconic course, host to numerous Open Championships and regarded as the spiritual home of golf. Playing the Old Course is on every golfer’s bucket list.
Gullane No. 1
No.1 at Gullane is an Open Championship Final Qualifying Course and multiple host of the European Tour’s Scottish Open, with beautiful views across the Firth of Forth.
