The Wigwam Resort Overview

One of Arizona’s best-known golf resorts, The Wigwam is an exceptional golfing facility located in Litchfield Park within the suburbs of Phoenix, Arizona. Tucked away in a small desert oasis of green, The Wigwam offers guests the chance to unwind and relax in the warm sun of Arizona.

The Wigwam resort offers 331 beautifully appointed guest casitas and suites. The onsite facilities are exceptional and perfect for both golfers and non-golfers alike. The most notable attraction must be the golf – the Gold and Blue courses are both Robert Trent Jones Sr. designs and the Red course is a Robert “Red” Lawrence design, and a firm favorite at Wigwam.

Golf courses at The Wigwam Resort

There are three championship golf courses onsite at The Wigwam, all of which are ideal for groups of golfers no matter their ability.

Referred to as “Arizona’s Monster”, the Gold Course at The Wigwam is a signature Robert Trent Jones Sr. design which incorporates immense length, long par-4s and par-5s, immaculate rolling fairways, fiery elevated greens, and numerous hazards. Measuring in at 7,345-yards from the back tees, it has more than earned its nickname, with golfers praising the challenge that requires some truly good golf to score well.

Although it only measures 6000 yards, The Blue Course at The Wigwam is no pushover. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. it is a quirky course which has been defined by its expertly placed water hazards, bunkers, and tall rough. The Blue Course is certainly a test of a golfer’s precise shot-making and short-game. Quite a contrast to its much bigger sister The Gold course.

One of The Wigwam’s most popular golf courses, The Red, is a 6852-yard, par-72 layout designed by Arizona Golf Hall of Fame member and golf course architect Robert “Red” Lawrence. The course is known for providing golfers of all abilities a suitable level of fun and challenge with its wide tree-lined fairways and generous greens, complimented perfectly by the streams and ponds which meander throughout the course.

The Wigwam’s golf courses have hosted numerous high-profile tournaments throughout the years including U.S. Open Qualifiers, U.S. Amateur Qualifiers, several NCAA Regional Championships, and the annual Patriot All-America Invitational (one of the top amateur tournaments in the country).

On the Red Course, the closing four holes are one of the toughest stretches in the state and will certainly get your attention.
