Cabot Highlands
Scottish Highlands, Scotland
Cabot Highlands overview
Opening in 2009, Cabot Highlands quickly entered the Golf Digest World Top 100 rankings and one of Scotland’s top public courses. The creation of Cabot Highlands certainly had the international visitor in mind with its stunning art-deco clubhouse, wonderful panoramic views and superb practice facilities.
Inside the clubhouse, you will find a well-stocked shop, a restaurant/bar serving great food and elegant locker rooms that like the course, offer impressive views across the Moray Firth and north to the Black Isle. Situated 20 minutes east of the city of Inverness and 15 minutes west of Nairn in Northern Scotland it is ideally located if staying in either of those locations.
Signature Holes
The 10th hole at Castle Stuart is a superb par-4, from an elevated tee looking out to the sea you have to decide your line across the vast gorse in front of you. The best line is down the left side which leaves a tricky approach to a shelved green. This hole has a great blend of strategy and beauty.
Castle Stuart Golf Links Course
Designed by Mark Parsinen and Gil Hanse, the course at Castle Stuart lies on the shores of the Moray Firth in the Scottish Highlands. An 18-hole, par-72 links layout, the design has the enjoyment of the game at its core.
Golfers will experience elevated tees, short par-4’s offering risk/reward situations, long and short par 3’s and the occasional blind shot. And overall offers a refreshing change from some of the more challenging links courses. This is not to say it easy by any means, as there are still gorse-lined fairways and the oceanfront to contend with, but the wider fairways do lend themselves to better scoring.
Although a modern venue, Castle Stuart compliments the existing golf options in the Highlands extremely well, increasing the recognition of Northern Scotland being a world-class golf destination.
Did You Know?
Castle Stuart Golf Links hosted its first professional tournament after just two years of opening when it held the 2011 Scottish Open for the European Tour. The event was won by Luke Donald.
