Heworth Golf Club is a parkland course with tight fairways, small green. Although it is a relatively short course it is a definite test for golfers of all abilities. The secret of a successful round is straight hitting and accepting one's punishment when in trouble. There is a good mix of par-4's, comprising from shorter and more strategic holes to long and demanding tests. The four par-3 holes (white tees) are rated as the toughest par-3's in the York Union of Golf Clubs.
