Golf Courses
The hotel’s two golf courses are located a short transfer from the resort. The Catalonia Caribe, designed by Juan Alberto Sola and Jack Corrie is an 18-hole, par 72 which features fast, narrow fairways and an island green.
The Catalonia Cabeza de Toro, also designed by Sola is a great fun and challenging 9-hole layout which features five lakes and many trees, which requires accurate shot making
Restaurant & Bars
The resort features 12 themed restaurants, with two buffet choices and 10 a-la-carte options.
A-la carte options for guests at the Royal Catalonia Bavaro include Thalassa, which serves Mediterranean cuisine, and Cata Tapa which is an innovative tapas bar. During the day, snacks are available at the Sea Blue Deli & Snack.
The other restaurants on the Catalonia estate include buffet restaurants Gran Caribe and La Palapa which serve a wide range of international food. There are also two Italian options, La Toscana, which serves typical Italian dishes, and the Pizzeria Sorento. Staying with the Mediterranean feel, you can also sample Bretonne which serves delicious sweet and savoury Crepes, as well as Terrace Tapas & Lounge. Of course, we could not forget the Japanese restaurant Mikado - a must-try - or finally the American Rodeo Steak House and Mexican Mariachi restaurants.
The resort also has many bars as part of the all-inclusive option. The hotel’s lobby bar, Piano Bar is a perfect place to enjoy a sophisticated drink. You can also enjoy Premium brands at the Aqua Bar and the Beach Bar. Other options include Snack Bar Pleamar, El Palmeral and the Bar Curacao.
Finally, there is the Pure Chillout Bar, which serves premium brands, but which is not included as part of the all-inclusive.
Spa & Leisure
The Alegria Spa on the resort property has four treatment rooms and offers 30 different kinds of treatments. It also features a beauty salon and a sauna.
Location
The resort is located in Punta Cana, a 15-minute transfer from Punta Cana International. Direct flights are available with British Airways from Gatwick. Flight time is approximately 8.5 hours. Indirect flights are also available to La Romana (40-minutes) or Santo Domingo (2 hours).
Nearby
If you feel the need to venture out of the resort, why not visit the capital city of Santo Domingo, the oldest city in the New World, where the settlement of all the American cultures began.
Or, you can choose to go on a day trip to Isla Catalina, whcih is a small offshore island with an incredible coral reef for snorkelling and diving.
For the nature enthusiasts, you have the Manati Park close by, an amusement park focused on nature, its animals and the history of the Dominican Republic, where you will enjoy a unique experience.
