A great base for a memorable golf break

The city of Brighton isn’t necessarily the first-place golfers think of when they think of great golf, the city is more known for its pier, beaches and nightlife. However, this is a wrong assumption as some of East Sussex’s best courses are located within miles of this incredibly vibrant city.

Three of the notable courses in the region near Brighton which are certainly must-plays if on a golf break include Seaford Golf Club, Willingdon Golf Club and West Hove Golf Club. Seaford is characterised by the high winds which often play havoc with a golfer’s round. Willingdon is known for its exceptional clubhouse and fabulous course design dating back to 1898. West Hove is known for its free-draining chalk-based soil which pretty much guarantees the course is always in great nick.

On the whole Brighton, golf courses are certainly worth checking out if you find yourself in the city on a wider East Sussex golf tour.

Stay in idyllic seaside resorts & hotels

When it comes to accommodation, Brighton offers it all. We recommend a firm favourite of our golfers, Mercure Brighton Seafront Hotel 4*. Just a two-minute walk from world-renowned Brighton Beach, this stunning Victorian hotel overlooks the English Channel and has all the modern amenities you need. Built-in 1864, the hotel has retained much of its features including a Regency staircase that leads down to a restaurant that looks over the sea.

The Hilton Brighton Metropole 4* is also a lovely hotel, ideally located on the seafront. Bright and spacious rooms, as well as the perfect location, mean that this is a fantastic destination to stay whilst playing golf in vibrant Brighton.

We also recommend The Jurys Inn Brighton 3*, a charming hotel located close to Brighton Train Station and just a 15-minute walk to the beach. With great access to the local attractions and nightlife, as well as comfortable rooms, this is an ideal place to stay while taking a Brighton City Golf Tour.
