Donnington Valley Golf Course overview

Style: Parkland

Donnington Valley Hotel and Spa, in Newbury, Berkshire had its beautiful 18-hole parkland golf course re-designed and lengthened between 1998 and 2000 and is now a challenging 6,353 yards, par-71 course from the back tees. Although some of the holes are quite forgiving the closing four holes are regarded as some of the toughest finishes in the country, with water featuring prominently on the 15th, 16th and 17th holes.

The clubhouse, Snelsmore House, a Grade II listed Victorian building overlooks the 9th/18th green and offers golfers exceptional golfing and social facilities with its two bars.

Signature Holes

Donnington Valley is a course not so much blessed by one signature hole but by an excellent gauntlet of holes which are regarded as three of the hardest back-to-back holes in the UK. The 15th, 16th and 17th each have their own unique quirks but what is certainly consistent throughout is the level of challenge.

The 15th is a 539-yard par-5, the 16th is a 176-yard par-3 and the 17th is a 415-yard par-4 meaning you will be tested on a variety of shots on the last few holes.
