Keen mature golfer
- The Aroeira estate is located in a forested area containing a healthy mixture of normal type apartments along with several 'high end' exclusive private houses. Although it offers it's own (limited) facilities on site, there are also several shops (including Aldi) and restaurants that are conveniently located just outside the gates.
We stayed in a large apartment overlooking the 4th hole at Aroeira 2. The property was on the ground floor, had a large garden and - even though we ate out most nights - was really well equipped for self catering type stays. The property was reasonably close to the Aroeira 2 clubhouse and also to the shops, but, less so for Aroeira 1 which was ca. 3 to 4 km away. Therefore, as others on this site have pointed out, a car is essential to get around and to travel from course to course.
We were very happy with Aroeira and with the quality of accommodation provided and would have no problem recommending it to other golfers too - especially those who prefer a quieter environment.
Our only minor annoyance was following a power outage on our last evening, we were unable to get any answer from the 'service phone number' provided and were left with no instructions on where to locate the fuse box, or how to resolve such issues. The security guard tried his best, but, didn't really know how to help. So, in the end, we were very grateful to a neighbour upstairs who by torchlight, showed us where our particular fuse box was located.
