    Aroeira Golf Resort hotel information

Set in a magnificent pinewood with a view of the golf course, Villas Aroeira offers a pleasant stay. The villas can range from 1 to three bedrooms and have all the amenities you could need: an open plan kitchen, lounge area and spacious bathrooms are on offer for guests. The ground floor villas come with a beautiful garden, and the upper level villas come with a balcony, with fantastic views of the Aroeira II golf course.

The large swimming pool at Herdade da Aroeira is perfect for cooling down, or having a relaxing swim after a day on the golf course. However if you are looking for more action, there are 4 synthetic turf tennis courts open 7 days a week. This is ideal for a set or two with friends, or have lessons to brush up on your forehand.

    Things to see and do

The popular city of Lisbon is only 25km away, and is full of gret things to see and do. The walking tours are a fun experience, allowing you to take in all the culture and history for yourself. If you are not so keen on walking, the vintage Tram 28 is perfect for seeing the sightis, including a visit to St George's Castle, Castelo de Sao Jorge. The views are breathtaking, and you can see the whole of Lisbon.

The Santa Justa Elevator is located in a gothic tower; although it is 45m high, it is a useful form of transportation between the Baixa and Bairro districts and is a famous landmark worth seeing. If this is a family golf holiday, Oceanario de Lisboa is a fantastic aquarium full of fascinating sealife. The facilties are superb and is a fun way of staying out of the heat for a few hours.

The golf resort is near the second largest shopping centre in Portugal, with plenty of designer shops and little boutiques to take your pick. The bars and restaurants are lively and freindly; the local food is exceptional. You can not only enjoy the surrounding golf but the shopping, culture and nightlife of this vibrant city: perfect for an action-packed golf holiday.

Our view of Aroeira Golf Resort

This resort is well suited to couples and smaller groups looking for something peaceful and relaxing on their golf holiday. Now complete with a shopping centre, coffee shop/bar and restaurant, there's no reason to leave the resort.

    GB Keen mature golfer
The Aroeira estate is located in a forested area containing a healthy mixture of normal type apartments along with several 'high end' exclusive private houses. Although it offers it's own (limited) facilities on site, there are also several shops (including Aldi) and restaurants that are conveniently located just outside the gates.
We stayed in a large apartment overlooking the 4th hole at Aroeira 2. The property was on the ground floor, had a large garden and - even though we ate out most nights - was really well equipped for self catering type stays. The property was reasonably close to the Aroeira 2 clubhouse and also to the shops, but, less so for Aroeira 1 which was ca. 3 to 4 km away. Therefore, as others on this site have pointed out, a car is essential to get around and to travel from course to course.
We were very happy with Aroeira and with the quality of accommodation provided and would have no problem recommending it to other golfers too - especially those who prefer a quieter environment.
Our only minor annoyance was following a power outage on our last evening, we were unable to get any answer from the 'service phone number' provided and were left with no instructions on where to locate the fuse box, or how to resolve such issues. The security guard tried his best, but, didn't really know how to help. So, in the end, we were very grateful to a neighbour upstairs who by torchlight, showed us where our particular fuse box was located.

    GB We travel a lot
We had an unhappy experience here. We arrived in the evening and the gatekeeper did not speak English so much confusion about how we were to get the key. We were then ejected from our villa after a night because the owner wanted it back. So had to repack cases for move to another. In the new place the owner had locked one bathroom (we were meant to have 2) the shower in the one bathroom did not work properly and neither the sink or bath would hold water! We were not moving again so put up with it, but unsatisfactory for what we assumed would be a quality property.
