Course and sea view

Quinta da Cima

18 holes, 72 par, 6842 yards. Parkland.

This new championship-standard sister course to Quinta da Ria is one that certainly provides an enjoyable challenge for the more accomplished players. Set in undulating terrain smattered with almond trees, it provides open fairways so the longer players can really open their shoulders but at the same time contend with plenty of well-placed water hazards. The first two holes indicate the true nature of the course, emphasizing the need for good club selection combined with accuracy. The architect Rocky Roquemore has also used higher elevations for tees and greens resulting in a visually stunning course to play. The coup de grace of his design is the liberal use of bunkers. Dotted all over the course, they make it more of a challenge than the sister course Quinta de Ria, but no less enjoyable. The key to scoring well here is a steady nerve and clever shot selection.

A cool head and a steady nerve will be required to succeed on this fantastic golf course.

Benamor Golf Course

18 holes, 71 par, 6012 yards. Parkland.

This was the first course to open on the Eastern Algarve. Designed by Sir Henry Cotton he decided to make the old church the clubhouse, which sits proudly in the middle of the complex. The course offers some fantastic sights with the mountains of Barrocal to the North and the Atlantic Ocean to the South. The course isn't particularly long at just over 6,000 yards but it plays like a rhythmic beat. Both sets of nine start and end in view of the clubhouse and each nine get tougher as you go along. Scattered with olive, carob, fig and cork trees, a walk around this course is like a walk through the glory of nature.

Castro Marim Atlantic Course

27 holes Parkland.

Located near the historic town of Castro Marim, this recently built course runs through undulating parkland and hilly terrain. It has a very special setting in the peaceful atmosphere of the eastern Algarve and was in fact the first course to be built in this region, offering players beautiful views over the Atlantic Ocean, the River Guadiana and the nearby nature reserve. Designed by Terry Murray, the course has managed to make use of the natural undulations of the rolling hills and is sprinkled with many ornamental lakes. It calls for careful play with strategically placed water hazards and fairway terrain that can put you in trouble. Combined with bunkers that have the ability to attract any stray shots, successfully conquering this course can be an immensely satisfying experience.
