The Ultimate Tuition Break...has begun!
Competition winners Nick Blunt and Chris Hughman have started their coaching on the European Tour Performance Institute Amateur Programme
Over the next few months Nick and Chris will be working with the likes of JJ Rivet, biomechanics expert for some of the top European Tour golfers, and Simon Holmes, world renowned golf coach and Sky Sports commentator. By the end of their 5 month intensive training course both golfers will have improved their health, fitness and, ultimately, their golf handicap – just in time for their appearance in the Portugal Masters Pro Am in October.
The programme has already swung into action at Celtic Manor. It started with a detailed physical assessment for both winners on the Tour Physiotherapy Unit and full swing analysis on the About Golf simulator, as used by Luke Donald, who has one installed at his home. The coaches have provided both golfers with a personalised plan, including a series of swing improvement techniques and physical exercises, to undertake in conjunction with instructional videos featuring Lee Westwood, Martin Kaymer and Alvaro Quiros.

What our winners had to say...
Nick
“It’s the ultimate prize for the golfer who wants to improve his game, offering an amateur like me top-level coaching he wouldn’t normally have access to and which will help take my game to the next level. My target handicap is eight but I would love to get down to six.
The fantastic courses we will play on, including at the Portuguese Masters Pro-Am in Vilamoura, are venues I have always wanted to try and that will be an amazing experience"
Chris
“This will be an amazing golf experience with something to look forward to every month until the end of the year. One of the particular reasons I signed up was to take advantage of the fitness offering – not only that, the coaching is the best in the business and if I can’t get down to a single-figure handicap after this I never will!.
Every single course on the itinerary is one I’ve wanted to play, particularly Celtic Manor and Saint-Omer, and the chance to play in the Portuguese Masters Pro-Am, on a course set up for a Tour event, is priceless. I’m champing at the bit!”.
