The Links at Spanish Bay course overview

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and Tom Watson in 1987, the Links at Spanish Bay is a fine option for players visiting Pebble Beach Golf Resort. Playing just over 6800 yards with 4 tee boxes, this fabulous California-links style golf course features rolling fairways surrounded by natural dunes.

The property weaves from the towering Monterey Pines to the beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Generally thought of as the third course at Pebble Beach Resort, guests will still find Spanish Bay spectacular and difficult. Undulating greens and cleverly designed holes offer a unique challenge and it is no surprise that the Links at Spanish Bay has hosted numerous PGA TOUR events since its inception.

During twilight rounds, players will witness stunning sunsets and will hear the famed Spanish Bay bagpiper put the course to sleep for the evening.

Golf Course at The Links at Spanish Bay

The Links at Spanish Bay was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr, Tom Watson and Sandy Tatum. The front 9 holes and last 5 holes weave their way between the sand dunes. The par-4 2nd hole (straight and narrow) demands great accuracy from the tee, while the par 3 8th hole (marsh corner) provides great views out to sea and the coastline.

Bunkers of every imaginable shape and size provide great defense for the undulating greens. The 10th-13th holes go away from the coastline and into a more tree-lined environment looping round the back of the hotel. This course is one of the most natural links course in the world, Britain and Ireland included.

Signature Holes

The 5th at The Links at Spanish Bay is considered the signature hole. Named ‘Blind Choice,’ this 451-yard par-4 features three pot bunkers in the middle of the fairway that have to be avoided with the tee shot. Play to the wider left-side and have a longer second shot or take on the tighter fairway to the right leaving a much easier approach to the green. The ocean backdrop behind the green is stunning and one of many great views encountered during a round at The Links at Spanish Bay.

Location

The course is located in the beautiful Monterey Pines at Pebble Beach. Just a 20 minute drive from Monterey Regional Airport.
