Leigh on Sea
- The hotel, food, accommodation was absolutely great.
This is, however, primarily a golf weekend and the golf facilities were pretty poor. No club shop, one tired old net as a practice and a terrible putting green made from some all weather surface that bears no resemblance to the greens at all.
The course is ok - front 9 are pretty easy but gets a little harder on the back 9. The open plan nature and the course layout make for lots of shots that have a good chance to hit someone on another green/fairway/tee so heard more shouts of "fore" than any previous round. Was also very slow - 4.5 hours on day one and nearly 5 hours on day two.
The bar in the golf club was small with a very limited selection of drinks. Nice staff but not a place to really relax at all. Lucky the weather was ok so the big groups could sit outside otherwise would have been very cosy indeed!
So, all in all, not a awful experience by any stretch but there are many much better places to go for similar money.
