Shendish Manor Golf Course Details

Golf at Shendish Manor Golf Club

One of the golf venues in Hertfordshire, Shendish Manor is famed for its challenging, tree-lined layout. Built to full USGA specifications, it's alaways in magnificent condition.

Shendish Manor Golf Course

18 holes, 70 par, 5660 yards. Parkland / Woodland.

Designed to full USGA specifications, Shendish Manor Golf Course meanders through both a parkland and woodland setting with a variety of challenging hazards. The undulating fairways are tree-lined and tight and will penalise those who are not accurate off the tee. The first seven holes are shorter and flatter so you'll want to score well here before moving onto the harder eleven holes which introduce hills and doglegs. Accuracy is key to getting round all 18 holes with a good score.

Shendish Manor Golf Course Location

Shendish Manor is off Junction 20 on the M25. Alternatively, the nearest train station is Apsley which is around 1 mile from the hotel and Luton airport is 14 miles away if you are flying in.

Benfleet Mad Golfer
Clubhouse is small hence the lower rating on facilities. Overall the course although short is well defended and makes you think. After the first 6 holes which are parkland the course improves no end in looks and difficulty.

Maldon Enjoy your golf!
The golf course itself was in very good condition (May) and the greens are a test for all levels of handicaps. Our stay was marred somewhat by the golf club not allocating us buggies as booked.

We played in May on 2 very nice, sunny days and I think that the Spring/Summer are probably the best times to play as the bar is cramped and there is no clubhouse and no practice green. The reception has little on offer in the way of equipment.

Shendish Manor is a course of 2 halves; the first 6 holes are straightforward but the remaining holes offer a challenge. Beware; there are plenty of hills to climb but they add to the quality. The greens were bobbly and the pace seemed to vary from hole to hole (maybe it was bad putting on my part). The course is very scenic and was relatively quiet on the Thursday and Friday that we played. It is a good course for a handicap of 10 or more as all holes are reachable for the average player.Overall, I would be very happy to visit the hotel again and I certainly would play the course again.
