The Roxburghe
18 holes, 72 par, 7111 yards. Parkland / Woodland. The estate is owned by the Duke of Roxburghe and he was determined to make this golf course a few notches above the rest. So, he commissioned Dave Thomas of Belfry fame to make the most of a landscape ideally suited for the purpose. The result of Thomas' design is inspiring with numerous mammoth sized bunkers, wide and rolling fairways and strategically placed water features.
At 7,111 yards, it's a challenging golf course although with the fairways generally on the wide side, it is also most suitable for the amateur golfer. In 2002 Roxburghe entered Golf World's top 100 in the British Isles; it is also the only championship golf course in the Scottish Borders. An immediate hit with pro golfers such as Colin Montgomerie, the golf course record is held by Sergio Garcia with a 6 under par 66.
