This is a lovely 4* hotel that is ideal for couples. The golf course is excellent and the sweeping views of the countryside second to none. They only have 22 bedrooms so book early to avoid disappointment.

The Roxburghe is an exceptional parkland layout situated on the banks of the River Teviot and surrounded by natural woodland. The estate is owned by the Duke of Roxburghe and he was determined to make this course a few notches above the rest. So, he commissioned Dave Thomas of Belfry fame to make the most of a landscape ideally suited for the purpose. The result of Thomas' design is inspiring with numerous mammoth sized bunkers, wide and rolling fairways and strategically placed water features. At 7,111 yards, it's a challenging course although with the fairways generally on the wide side, it is also most suitable for the amateur golfer. In 2002 Roxburghe entered Golf World's top 100 in the British Isles; it is also the only championship course in the Scottish Borders. An immediate hit with pro golfers such as Colin Montgomerie, the course record is held by Sergio Garcia with a 6 under par 66.

Set amongst mature woodland and rolling parkland on the banks of the River Teviot, this 22 bedroom establishment has had each room individually designed by the Duchess, an accomplished interior designer in her own right, giving each one a luxurious and unique quality. With its warm and friendly atmosphere the dining room reflects the hotel's position at the source of some of Scotland's finest fish, meat and game. Salmon and trout are taken from the waters of the Tweed and grouse, pheasant and venison from the Estate. You can also choose to compliment your locally produced meal with wines taken from all over the world in the Duke's own cellar. Fine whiskies are served in the Library Bar and with its log fire and leather bound books the hotel is the perfect place to relax. Activities include horse riding, fishing (trout and salmon), shooting (pheasant, from November to January), clay pigeon shooting, falconry, croquet, archery, off road driving and cycling as well as an array of health and beauty facilities.
