Long a landmark in Charleston, Mills House Hotel originally opened in 1853 and was billed the ‘finest hotel south of New York’. Following the American Civil War and a period of neglect, the hotel reopened in 1970 after extensive restoration. The building now features rare antiques and fine art assembled by renowned designer Anthony Hale, who also oversaw the Kennedy White House renovation.

Today Mills House Hotel welcomes guests in the finest traditions of southern hospitality with the great charm of 19th century mixed with modern luxury to offer a quintessential Charleston experience.  There are 214 guest bedrooms decorated in a traditional style, each with their own individual comforts.

The Barbadoes Room Restaurant is one of Charleston’s best restaurant choices for locals and visitors alike, offering a varied menu with a colonial feel. Guests can also enjoy an outdoor pool in the hot summer months, plus there is a lovely outside area to take drinks with a water feature in the middle.
