AT A GLANCE
Golf courses
Five excellent golf courses available onsite, including The Champion Course designed by Jack Nicklaus, home of the Honda Classic. The Palmer Course is also superb and designed by the great man himself.
Follow in the footsteps of golfing legends, and play one of these fantastic courses:
Champion Course (PGA National Resort & Spa)
Any avid golfer should have the Jack Nicklaus designed Champion Course on their ‘must play’ list. This world-renowned course is home to the Honda Classic, and hosted the 1983 Ryder Cup. It features the infamous ‘Bear Trap’, three of the most demanding closing holes on the Tour. It is widely considered to be one of Florida’s most notable golf challenges, and in May 2008, USA Today stated that ‘The Bear Trap is one of the toughest stretches in golf’. It’s definitely a highlight of any Florida golf tour.
18 Holes, Par 72, Yardage 7048. .
Palmer Course (PGA National Resort & Spa)
Named after the great Arnold Palmer and designed by the man himself, this course is a subtle nod to the game’s Scottish roots. Golfers will enjoy a links style routing, numerous grass bunkers and the sharing of a common green on holes 8 and 12. A great addition to the golf at PGA National.
18 Holes, Par 72, Yardage 6768. .
Haig Course (PGA National Resort & Spa)
The Haig Course is a par 72 course measuring over 6,800 yards, designed by Tom and George Fazio. The layout is very enjoyable, with large rose bushes blooming at each 150-yard marker on the course. This is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to five-time PGA champion Walter Hagen’s suggestion to “stop and smell the roses”.
18 Holes, Par 72, Yardage 6806. .
Squire Course (PGA National Resort & Spa)
Named after the immortal Gene Sarazen, the first golfer to win the Professional Grand Slam, The Squire is a ‘thinking man’s course’ and is the ultimate test of accuracy and precision. Small fast greens and tough little landing areas make The Squire a great test for any golfer.
18 Holes, Par 72, Yardage 6465. .
Estate Course (PGA National Resort & Spa)
After a short drive from the resort you will find The Estate course, winding through open meadows lined with Florida Pines and sub-tropical foliage. The Estate features a mixture of sand and water traps surrounding lush fairways and greens. An enjoyable challenge.
18 Holes, Par 72, Yardage 6694. .
