Penha Longa Golf Club is a superb collection of 27 holes.  It is renowned as one of Lisbon’s, if not Portugal’s, best courses.

Atlantic

18 holes, 72 par, 6786 yards. Parkland.

The Atlantic golf course at Penha Longa Hotel Spa and Golf Resort was designed by Robert Trent Jones II. The Atlantic course takes advantage of the steeply sloping terrain and excellent views of the surrounding landscape. Six of the holes are situated in the valley, whilst the other holes have been built on a hill offering lovely views of the Sintra Hills. The fantastic course has hosted the Portuguese Open twice (1994 and 1995) as well as the Estoril Open in 1999. Regularly ranked in the top five Portuguese courses, if you are planning on having a golf break in Lisbon, this course is definitely one to play.

Monastery

9 holes, 35 par, 2829 yards. Parkland.

The Monastery golf course at Penha Longa is a 9 hole excellent alternative to the Atlantic. Built in 1995, this course is located on the site of a former Monastery and the land is less undulating than the Atlantic course and therefore makes it easier to play. You can enjoy the superb scenery which consists of the hills of Sintra in the background and a number of pretty lakes surrounding the course, all of which make the Monastery a pleasure to play.

Designed by the renowned William "Rocky" Roquemore, architect of several other golf projects in Portugal, Belas is set in the beauty of the Carregueira Mountains. Belas is a Championship Golf Course. The layout is extraordinary, with several fairways and greens set in deep valleys, and it affords unforgettable panoramic scenery to golfers and visitors. With its excellent variety of holes, the golf course is a pleasure to play, whatever one’s handicap level. Estoril

18 holes, 69 par, 5808 yards. Parkland.

Golf Do Estoril is one of the best known golf courses in Portugal and has hosted the Portuguese Open and Amateur Championships on several occasions. Estoril golf course is located in one of Europe’s oldest established tourist resorts and has wonderful views overlooking the Atlantic. This masterpiece of a golf course was designed by Mackenzie Ross and he has made good use of the surrounding pine trees and eucalyptuses. After your challenging, yet enjoyable round you can enjoy a drink in the excellent clubhouse and take in the beautiful views and surroundings.

The beautiful exterior of Quinta da Marinha

Quinta da Marinha

The addition of pine woods, water features and five par 5s adds to the difficulty of the golf course, with the back nine tracing the cliff tops of the Estoril Coast, providing more great views on this enjoyable and interesting golf course.

Lisbon Sports Club

18 holes, 69 par, 5520 yards. Parkland / Inland.

The Lisbon Sports Club dates back to the 1880’s when a group of English resident founded a sports club. It is situated between the village of Belas and Vale de Lobos, about 20 km from Cascais and Lisbon. Designed by Hawtree & Son, it was originally a 9-hole; it was extended to 18 in 1992. Situated amidst hills and valleys, it is a relatively short course; however the natural layout of the land makes it more difficult than it appears. Along most of the courses runs a winding water ditch. The narrow fairways lined with beautiful old trees and abundant vegetation blend in perfectly with the natural surroundings. Each hole is so different that no matter how often they are played, there are always new challenges awaiting the player. The comfortable Club House was originally the old Manor House of Casa de Carregueira. Lisbon Sports Club also boasts an excellent swimming pool, three shale tennis courts, a driving range and a small practice area.

Quinta da Beloura

18 holes, 73 par, 6398 yards. Parkland.

Set in a 60-hectare area of parkland, half way between the towns of Cascais and Sintra, Quinta da Beloura is one of the newest courses to be built on the Estoril coast. Designed by Rocky Roquemore and built in 1994, the course forms part of a residential development and runs along fairly flat ground ensuring that the round be pleasurable and not exhausting. Its 18 holes, with excellent views over the Sintra mountain range, extend over 6,428 yards with a par of 72. More than 40,000 trees have been planted to create a stunning green landscape and several lakes also help to create a varied and interesting backdrop. The course provides a good test where both skill and a cool head are required. This can be seen when approaching the parallel holes of the 16th and 17th, which combine narrow fairways with a lake in between them that demand accurate drives.
