The lush greens of Palheiro Golf Club

Palheiro Golf Course

18 holes, 72 par, 6695 yards. Parkland / Links.

Palheiro Golf Course offers golfers superb views across the town and its bay while offering a great test of golf for all levels of golfers. Its 18 holes cut through rolling countryside within the Quinta do Palheiro estate while staying true to the architect’s original plans of a course that blended in with its environment. With its fast greens and various hazards, it encourages brains rather than brawn. However, with superb practice and tuition facilities onsite you’ll be more than ready to tackle the course.

Santo da Serra

18 holes, 72 par, 6047 yards. Clifftop.

Sitting high above the bay of Machico, the Santo da Serra Golf Club offers the keen golfer an ideal spot to enjoy stunning views and beautiful golf courses. The original course, first designed way back in 1937, was completely redesigned in 1991 by the renowned Robert Trent Jones and now represents one of the key golfing destinations in Madeira. Split into three distinctive loops of nine, each one offers a varying selection of challenges. The Machico and Desertas courses have played host to the Madeira Island Open and with the Serras Course offering an easier test, it is no less stunning. Utilising the natural environment and combining lakes, trees and sand, the courses at Santo da Serra are designed to be enjoyed rather than fought.

Clubhouse

Porto Santo

18 holes, 72 par, 7034 yards. Clifftop.

Porto Santo golf course is located on the Porto Santo island just 15 minutes’ flight time from Madeira. This is the first course to be opened on the island, was designed by the great Seve Ballesteros and is becoming an automatic addition to every Madeira golfing itinerary. Featuring two contrasting loops of nine it is a course of variety, beauty and challenges. Set along the coastline, it provides superb views out across the Atlantic and the island interior. Rolling fairways lead onto undulating greens and with a number of water hazards this is a course that really requires you to think about each shot before playing it.
