Durban Enthusiastic, particular, adventurous, demanding
- I was forced to actually rate the hotel but can't really for the reasons below: I cannot rate this hotel at the moment as it's a work in progress - covered in scaffolding and swarming with workmen to get it ready for next year's Ryder Cup. It's certainly convenient but being woken up by a jackhammer and going to sleep with a jackhammer is not my idea of fun.
There is no separate bar area and only one restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Talking of breakfast: we missed it as they closed the service at 9.30 am. I'm sure they have a reason for this, but if you have a late tee-off time and are there for leisure, it's a major inconvenience. We then had to buy something to eat......
As only some of the accommodation is actually available, we weren't able to get a late check out and were lucky that the golf course change rooms were functioning on the day we flew out so that we could have a shower before going to the airport.
I think it's going to be great when finished but, until then, if you have a car rather find somewhere close by to stay and drive to the course for your games - there is nothing to do at the hotel once you have finished your golf game.
