Built in 1923, the Marrakech Royal Golf Club is the 2nd oldest in Morrocco. Situated only 15 minutes away from the centre of Marrakech, it offers spectacular views of the snow covered Atlas Mountains. This golf course has history, as it happens to be His Majesty King Hassan II's favourite course. Also, it has had the likes of Winston Churchill, David Lloyd George and Ike Eisenhower play there.
The course is set in the middle of cypress, eucalyptus, palm, olive, orange and apricot trees, making it a place of pure magic. The style of the course is reminiscent to an English layout with strategically placed bunkers and many palm trees protecting the fairways and greens.
Royal Golf Marrakech
18 holes, 72 par, 6154 yards. Parkland / Woodland. The Menara/Koutoubia configuration is the main 18 holes. Recently opened in May 2008, the Menara course, designed by French European Seniors Tour player Gerry Watine, is more open, featuring the only lakes on the golf course. It is the longest and features the best greens. The Koutoubia, part of the original 18, is tighter, with many palm, olive and eucalyptus trees. Its signature hole is the 9th, a par 3 with a very tight landing area protected by bunkers and palm trees.
