In the early 1990s, he took 70 hectares of Lombardy countryside and shifted two million cubic metres of earth and gravel to reshape it into a stunning layout of hillocks, dips and hollows, amphitheatre greens, bunkers, terraces and ponds which once put together, bear the classic hallmarks of the Golden Bear.
