Alhaurin

18 holes, 72 par, 6801 yards. Parkland.

This superb golf course was designed by Seve Ballesteros and is of international repute. It is situated in the Sierra de Mijas with stunning views of the mountains and beyond. Alhaurin is a challenging track that features lush greens and fairways set amongst the pine trees. Good golf course management and accuracy is needed if you're to avoid the trees, bunkers and water features. The undulating golf course is as testing a walk as it is a golf challenge so you might need a buggy if you're to keep your concentration up through the closing holes.

Cabopino

18 holes, 71 par, 5652 yards. Parkland.

This stunning golf course nestles amongst umbrella pines in the hills above the quaint marina of Cabopino. It is heralded as a golf course for making golfers "use every club in their bag" and tests all handicappers. The greens are relatively large with platforms and are kept in excellent condition. The signature hole is the 3rd: a gargantuan drop to the fairway is followed by the need for an accurate second as a large bunker protects the elevated green.

El Paraiso

18 holes, 71 par, 6702 yards. Parkland.

Designed by the legendary Gary Player, this is one of the most established courses on the coast. Opened in 1973, this layout is very easy on the eye and features lush fairways flanked by palm trees and meandering streams to create an exciting challenge for all levels of golfer. Its signature hole is the 6th, a dogleg left par 5 that incorporates fairway bunkers, lakes and a two-tiered green to test even the lowest handicapper.

Los Naranjos

18 holes, 72 par, 7037 yards

Los Naranjos golf course is a Robert Trent Jones Snr. designed course that makes use of the surrounding orange trees. This golf course is a superb track with the front nine being wide and open and the back nine being quite tight through the orange groves. Many of the large and undulating greens are well protected by bunkers which add to the great challenge of this golf course. Los Naranjos golf club has a state of the art irrigation system which helps to keep it in tip top condition.

Los Lagos

18 holes, 71 par, 6963 yards. Parkland with lakes.

As its name suggests, this Robert Trent Jones Snr. designed golf course uses water as a major feature and comes into play on nine holes. There is plenty of room off the tee as wide fairways and short rough are a constant throughout the 18 holes. It could be said that this golf course was designed for amateurs but, with a host of strategically placed bunkers and nine lakes, even the best golfers will need to focus if they're going to score well.
