Twilight golf

Al Hamra

18 holes, 72 par, 7267 yards. Links.

Designed by Swiss architect Peter Harradine, this is the first “links” style course in the Middle East. Built on the shores of the Arabian Gulf, the course keeps faith with the classic links style; humps, hollows, pot bunkers, and of course, views over rolling waves. In addition, the 7,267 yard championship course features a large, open lagoon, with four sub-lagoons that are all inter-connected. With excellent off course facilities, it all adds up to make Al Hamra an unforgettable golfing experience.

The Montgomerie, Dubai - Bunker shot

The Montgomerie Golf Club (DA)

18 holes

Set in more than 200 acres, The Montgomery remains true to its designers’ Scottish heritage. It features undulating, links style fairways, where finding the flat landing areas is the key to putting together a good score. The signature hole is the par 3 13th, which boasts the largest single green in the world at over 58,000 sq feet, the equivalent of 9 greens. What’s more, the tee shot to this island green can be played from a 360 degree teeing ground, meaning the hole can be different every time you play it. It’s a very special hole on a very special golf course.

Arabian Ranches Golf Club, Dubai - Clubhouse

Arabian Ranches Golf Club (DA)

18 holes

Designed by former Open champion Ian Baker-Finch, in association with Nicklaus design, Arabian Ranches opened in 2004. This 18 hole, par 72 desert style course features no water hazards or defined bunkers, but don’t let that fool you; there’s still plenty of sand to catch any wayward shots. For those who like a challenge, the course can be stretched to a monstrous 7,691 yards from the championship tees, but it usually plays around 6,500 yards, making it an enjoyable round for all levels. With excellent off course facilities, this is simply a fantastic golfing experience.

Al Badia Golf Club, Dubai - golf course and lake view

Al Badia Golf Club (DA)

18 holes

Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, this 18 hole, par 72 championship course is one of the most enjoyable courses in Dubai. Measuring 7,303 yards from the back tees, the course is designed in a “desert oasis” theme; there are 11 lakes, several ponds and numerous cascading waterfalls. The course is lined with plants and trees indigenous to the Arabian Golf, and these features all add to up to a visually stunning course. With 4 tee positions on every hole, the course is suitable for all levels, from the low handicapper to the recreational player.

The Els Club, Dubai - a challenging golf course

The Els Club (DA)

18 holes

Opened in March 2008, The Els Club is the newest addition to golf in Dubai. Set in a unique environment, you get a genuine sense of playing golf in the desert, exactly what Els wanted to achieve with his “desert links” design. With immaculate fairways and greens, and set on undulating slopes of native desert vegetation, the 7,538 yard course offers golfers a true test of their abilities. With four sets of tees on each hole, the course can be enjoyed by golfers of all levels. With luxury off course facilities, the Els Club is quite simply a must play golf course.
