Majlis Golf Course

18 holes, 72 par, 7200 yards. Desert.

Opened in 1988, the course was nicknamed “The Desert Miracle” when it became Dubai’s first all-grass championship course. This 7,200 yard, par 72 course is a real pleasure to play, and offers a challenge to all levels; the course record is held by the great Ernie Els, with a 61. The 7 lakes and the natural vegetation make this golf course visually stunning, and this extended to the off course areas. The Clubhouse reflects a Bedouin tented village, and visitors are guaranteed to experience the oldest Arabian tradition of all, hospitality. This superb golf course is host to the Dubai Desert Classic, February 2010 and the final of the European Ladies Tour.

Faldo Course (Emirates Golf Club)

18 holes, 72 par, 7300 yards. Desert.

Redesigned by Nick Faldo in 2006, The Wadi measures over 7,300 yards and is destined to become a classic. Built on naturally rugged terrain, the course bears many of the hallmarks of Faldo’s other designers, such as the varied tee shots and deceptive bunkers. There is a natural wadi that runs the length of the course, which often comes into play without being classified as a hazard, another feature that sets this course apart. This is a magnificent course that provides a test for all levels of golfer.

Aerial view

Dubai Creek

18 holes, 70 par, 6967 yards. Parkland.

This 6,857 yard, par 71 course is one of Dubai’s flagship courses. The well groomed fairways are lined with date and coconut palms and tropical shrubbery, and the numerous water hazards provide further challenges. The course has recently undergone remodelling, with the tees and greens on the back nine having been changed, and the front nine having been redesigned by Thomas Bjorn. The course boasts all the facilities you would expect from a two-time host of the Dubai Desert Classic, and the whole experience make this a course that you’ll want to play more than once.

Clubhouse

Arabian Ranches

18 holes Desert.

Designed by former Open champion Ian Baker-Finch, in association with Nicklaus design, Arabian Ranches opened in 2004. This 18 hole, par 72 desert style course features no water hazards or defined bunkers, but don’t let that fool you; there’s still plenty of sand to catch any wayward shots. For those who like a challenge, the course can be stretched to a monstrous 7,691 yards from the championship tees, but it usually plays around 6,500 yards, making it an enjoyable round for all levels. With excellent off course facilities, this is simply a fantastic golfing experience.

Twilight golf

Al Hamra

18 holes, 72 par, 7267 yards. Links.

Designed by Swiss architect Peter Harradine, this is the first “links” style course in the Middle East. Built on the shores of the Arabian Gulf, the course keeps faith with the classic links style; humps, hollows, pot bunkers, and of course, views over rolling waves. In addition, the 7,267 yard championship course features a large, open lagoon, with four sub-lagoons that are all inter-connected. With excellent off course facilities, it all adds up to make Al Hamra an unforgettable golfing experience.
