Jubilee Course at St Andrews overview

Often considered the most challenging of the courses at St Andrews Links, the par-72, 6742-yard Jubilee Course (from the tips) has a reputation amongst the locals of being a stern test of golf and is a favourite of the St Andrews University Golf Club for their team matches. Similar to the New Course, the Jubilee often gets missed with all the attention taken by the Old Course and by the nearby Kingsbarns, however, you can often escape all the crowds and enjoy a relatively peaceful round here.

Opened in 1897 and elevated to championship standard by Donald Steele in 1988, the main features of the Jubilee include the undulating terrain, a fine collection of par-3’s and a layout which has many of the holes threading their way through the sand dunes. The elements also play a big role here due to the course’s location on a narrow piece of links land in between the New Course and the shoreline. Golfers are also rewarded for their efforts with tremendous views across St Andrews Bay to the east and the other St Andrews Links land to the west.

Like the other St Andrews Links courses, the facilities are shared with golfers primarily using the Links Trust Clubhouse which has a retail shop and restaurant and if they wish to warm-up beforehand, the driving range at the St Andrews Golf Academy.

overview

The course was named in honour of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, marking her 60th year on the throne.
