Biarritz le Phare

18 holes, 69 par, 5908 yards. Links.

Located in the town itself, the links at Biarritz le Phare is a good test of any golfer's technique and course management skills with fast greens, wiry rough and 70 bunkers. One of the oldest courses in France, Biarritz le Phare seems relatively short, but will feel much longer when the wind blows. Not to be taken lightly, complacency could wreck a card with plenty of natural hazards ready to scupper a decent score.

Arcangues

18 holes, 72 par, 5780 yards. Parkland / Woodland.

Situated in the hills that overlook Biarritz, this is a beautifully landscaped course that winds through 198 acres of oak trees and meadows and around the village and Chateau d'Arcangues. Designed by the creative American architect Ronald Fream, it demands aggressive approach shots to receptive greens; a truly top course in a wonderful location.

Golf Course

Makila

18 holes, 72 par, 6708 yards. Upland / Hill.

Designed by the American architect Rocky Roquemore, this excellent 18 hole layout has been established on a beautifully natural site - an area of rolling hills and valleys and through an oak forest of trees that are many centuries old. Makila allows golfers to open their shoulders from the tee with the main defence coming from its hilly nature and the ancient oaks which line the fairways. The views are spectacular and with the majestic Pyrénées as a constant backdrop, it would be tough not to enjoy this course.

The famous Golf de Seignosse, France - Golf View

Seignosse

18 holes, 72 par, 6697 yards. Woodland.

Rated the 15th best golf course in continental Europe by Golf World magazine and 7th best in France by Top100golfcourses, Golf de Seignosse is a famous modern masterpiece. Threading their way through pine trees and cork-oaks, the undulating fairways of Golf de Seignosse wind through a huge valley. There are also many natural, daunting water features and shots over ravines making this a sterling test of anyone's golf game, perfect on your golf holiday.

Chantaco

18 holes, 70 par, 6379 yards. Woodland.

Designed by Harry Colt in 1928, this is hilly, tight course that is always named as one of France's top 50 courses. Laid out in woods overlooked by the imposing foothills of the Pyrennes, Chantaco is a good test of golf that has gained a favourable reputation. There are two distinct nines, with one carved through a forest fringed valley and the other dominated by many a water feature and the course has hosted the French Open along with other international events.

Golf d'Hossegor - Clubhouse & Green

Golf d'Hossegor

18 holes, 71 par, 6563 yards. Woodland.

One of Europe's top 100 courses, the historic Hossegor was founded in the 1930s and was designed by Tom Morrison. A wooded heathland layout, Hossegor is characterised by its many doglegs, tight fairways lined with heather and trees and quick, tricky greens. There's no water, which is not so surprising when you consider this is Jean van der Velde's home course; a tough test in great condition in a beautiful setting.
