    Barnsley Just like Ronseal.
Good Courses on both Hellidon and Lakes, give Valley a miss if you can. Most of the Staff worked hard trying to provide good service but they are seriously understaffed for the number of Guests and Players resulting in slow and disappointing service. Our group resorted to clearing glasses and food dishes away from tables to get a place to sit and enjoy a drink in the Terrace Bar on Friday and Saturday.
The Golf Manager was totally absent throughout our weekend visit and did nothing to enhance our experience. I was left to book a Golf Buggy from an external company for the weekend as the small fleet of buggies were already booked out. The Golf Asst helped me but the Golf Manager totally ignored my calls and requests for assistance made each day for three days prior to my visit. Needless to say the cost of booking the external buggy was significantly higher but at least it allowed a dependant Golfer the chance to play.
Accommodation was perfectly satisfactory and buffet breakfast was okay but Dinner on both nights was the same Table D' Hote menu. Food quality was disappointing at Dinner.
We also had a row over the 20% drinks discount which was applied to some of our party but not all of the Group. Bar Staff and Reception Staff were happy to blame each other.
This could be a much better venue and Q Hotels need to invest in more Staff with better training.

When we arrived on Thurs 25th May, after finishing our first round around 4 in the afternoon we were given rooms in the attic there was no air con and the room was like a sauna we asked for a change of room but were told that nothing was available, we asked if we could have a fan but again none were available, though the staff were very friendly the Terrace bar was very busy because there were weddings every day so it was impossible to be seated as a whole group, with regards to the menu it was the same choice every day, you did have the option of al-a-carte but at 30pounds for a steak in was expensive over the period of our stay. In all the years of booking with you this is the first time I have posted a negative review, I would not book to return to Hellidon Lakes again
