Golf de Clécy

18 holes, 73 par, 6372 yards. Parkland.

Built on 100 hectares of woods and pastures around a manor house, this hilly 6,526 yard golf course was designed by Bill Baker. The undulating layout stretches out on a hill of the "Suisse Normande" region (Norman Switzerland) offering stunning panoramic views. With its sharp elevation changes, a buggy is definitely advised at Clecy and the tricky golf course is certainly better suited to lower handicap golfers. The majority of the golf round is played through woods and trademark Normandy hedges and there is a real sense of escapism with the only times you're in sight of the clubhouse on the 9th and 18th greens. A real rural and traditional golf holiday.

Golf de Garcelles

18 holes, 70 par, 6251 yards. Parkland.

Recently extended to 18 holes by the architect Yves Bureau, the 6,251 yard, par 70 Garcelles golf course is to be found just 6km from the town of Caen. The first few holes can lull you into a false sense of security with wide, open fairways. However the par 5 7th weighs in at 632 yards and water features play a prominent role on the back nine, which is dominated by short, tight par 4s. However the golf courses' primary defence mechanism are its tricky greens.
