Le Golf Parc Robert Hersant

18 holes, 72 par, 6308 yards. Parkland with lakes.

Built on around 100 hectares of sprawling waterways and bordered by hills lush with a wide variety of flowers, shrubs and trees, Le Golf Parc Robert Hersant is as beautiful as it is demanding. The former personal golf course of the late press magnate Robert Hersant, 15,000 trees were planted in its creation including Sequoias, Douglas firs and Gingkoes which help contribute to some absolutely stunning views, especially in Autumn. Designed by Ronald Fream, this American-style golf layout features generous fairways which give plenty of room to play around the water obstacles, of which there are many. The greens are very large and some have several plateaus making long putting quite tricky. The addition of several island greens makes the golf course look even prettier, however they might not lead to such a pretty scorecard!

Greens

Golf Club du Champ de Bataille

18 holes, 72 par, 6600 yards. Woodland.

Golf Club du Champ de Bataille is located 28km North West of Evreux within the estate of the Chateau du Champ de Bataille. The golf course is a 6,600 yard par 72 and has a great layout. It is beautifully carved out of mature trees with the occasional strategically placed water hazard. The greens and fairways are highly renowned for being in excellent condition. It can be said that this is one of the most difficult and beautiful golf courses Normandy and arguably France has to offer, particularly in the spring when it becomes full of blooming rhododendrons which are truly a wonderful sight. When playing golf in France or certainly within Normandy, this is a golf course which you just have to play.

Golf d'Evreux

18 holes, 72 par, 6353 yards. Parkland.

Known as one of the most difficult golf courses in Normandy, the 18 holes of Golf Evreux have been mapped out on hilly terrain and measure 6,948 yards from the back-tees (par 72). Designed by the French architect Jean-Pascal Foures, the golf course is notable for its tough par 3s, including a 219 yarder to an island green, and a 656 yard long par 5! The impressive golf complex also includes a driving range with 20 outdoor and 11 indoor bays and a bar/restaurant.

Golf du Vaudreuil

18 holes, 72 par, 6784 yards. Woodland.

Golf du Vaudreuil is conveniently located just south of Rouen and is a well matured woodland layout. Designed by Fred Hawtree in 1961, the fairways wind through magnificent, carefully preserved parkland and a great variety of trees making accuracy off the tee essential. Furthermore, at 6,784 yards, it isn't the shortest of golf courses and provides a very good test of holiday golf. Most visitors to Vaudreuil are left with fond memories of the clubhouse; a former thatched barn, it is renowned as one of the most beautiful and very best in France and is very comfortably furnished with a good restaurant.

Vaucouleurs Les Vallons

18 holes, 70 par, 6163 yards. Links-style Parkland.

This challenging inland links golf course is considered one of the best of its kind in France and will be loved by those who admire the great seaside layouts of Scotland. Accuracy off the tee is key, as thick rough and pot bunkers await any stray shots. Good golf course management is also a must, as strong winds can play havoc with club selection. This is a beautifully laid out golf course and will entertain and test all who play.
