Oubaai Golf Estate offers a stunning championship course designed by South African golfing icon Ernie Els. Offering cliff-top views surrounded by breathtaking scenery, the course epitomises golf on the Garden Route. Visitors should expect the need to produce well-executed shots that will be rewarded, while any wayward shots will be harshly dealt with. Set amidst spectacular scenery of mountains, forest, river and sea, Oubaai is a memorable and enjoyable course that should be a must for golf trip to the Garden Route.

Mossel Bay

Mossel Bay Course

18 holes, 72 par, 6534 yards. Links.

Situated on an awe-inspiring peninsular that juts out into the Indian Ocean, Mossel Bay Golf Club is one of the best golfing experiences on the Garden Route. Offering views of the ocean from every tee and with numerous Springbuck roaming the course, players will relish this unforgettable golfing experience. The 3rd is the signature hole; a par 4 measuring over 440 yards which can prove especially challenging when playing into the sea breeze. The tee is situated high above the fairway with magnificent vistas over the estate, and the hole runs downhill towards the two level undulating green with the Indian Ocean as your backdrop. The clubhouse overlooks the 18th green with the ocean beyond, making the restaurant ideally situated for post-game drinks and meals.

Simola Golf View

Simola Golf Course

18 holes, 72 par, 6950 yards. Parkland.

A round of golf at Simola is a breathtaking experience. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, the course is built within two natural amphitheatres with glorious views from every corner of the Outeniqua Mountains, Knysna Lagoon and the Indian Ocean beyond. The course has built up a superb reputation in the area for its condition, with the greens and tee boxes often looking especially immaculate. The layout is also fantastic and a real pleasure to play on. The golf clubhouse has a well-stocked pro shop as well as spacious changing rooms and a lovely restaurant and bar area. Simola truly offers a piece of South African golfing paradise.

Golf course

George Golf Course

18 holes, 72 par, 6162 yards. Parkland.

Originally designed by Charles Moteno Murry, George Golf Club is consistently in the top 10 golf courses of South Africa. Situated in the beautiful parkland of the Outeniqua mountain range, the course has a feeling of being carved from a forest. Expect generous fairways where only the most wayward of tee shots will be punished, but also some fast and undulating greens that will test your short game. Often overlooked and in our opinion underrated, George Golf Club is an enjoyable test that provides great value for money.

the 12th

Montagu Course

18 holes, 72 par, 6912 yards. Parkland.

Designed by Gary Player, the majestic parkland Montague golf course is one of the best conditioned in South Africa and has regularly been ranked as the top golf course in the country. This cleverly designed layout has generous Kikuyu fairways and fast grass greens similar to the golf courses favoured by the US Tour. Indeed the most challenging, nerve wracking and enjoyable hole, the par 3 17th whose green can only be reached by clearing a large expanse of water, is very similar to the 12th at Augusta National. As play on this golf course is only limited to members and hotel residents, you will have ample time to play at your own pace while taking in the beautiful surroundings. It’s truly a top golfing experience.

2nd hole

Outeniqua Course

18 holes, 72 par, 6952 yards. Parkland.

The Outeniqua is another majestic parkland layout at the Fancourt Resort. It is similar in character and design to its sibling, the Montague, and its challenging design and fine conditioning will ensure an excellent test for golfers of all standards. As with all three of the Fancourt golf courses, there are a variety of tees ensuring that no golfer feels overpowered by the course. Similarly, you need never feel pressured on your round, as the Outiniqua golf course is exclusive to members and hotel residents only. Book early however as The Outeniqua Course is always in high demand. Golf carts are available for hire while knowledgeable caddies are available too.

9th hole

The Links Course (Fancourt)

18 holes, 72 par, 7183 yards. Links.

For a great test of golf in stunning surroundings, The Links Course at Fancourt is hard to beat. Host to the President's Cup in November 2003 it presents a unique golfing experience, that is in the same league as some of the best links golf in the likes of Scotland and Ireland. It is however one of the most difficult tests of golf in South Africa so we recommend you carry more balls than usual and be patient - The Links was never meant to be a low scoring, target golf course. Thankfully this golf course provides some of the best caddies in the country to guide you round.
