Golf Holidays in Belgium
Golf in Belgium is not as well known as travelling to France, Spain or Portugal, but it already has a fantastic reputation for those in the know. Easy to access due to its proximity to the Eurotunnel terminal, there is a great choice of destinations for your Belgian golf holiday.
The closest region to France and therefore the Eurotunnel, is that of Bruges, a vibrant town with plenty of character. Called the ‘Venice of the North’ due its canals and lively promenades, the town is full of restaurants and bars selling proper Belgian beer. A weekend in Bruges offers great golf options including the European Top 100 golf course of Royal Zoute Golf Club.
The Brabant-Wallon region is positioned just to the south of Brussels and is a 2 hour 30 minute drive from Calais. Golf in Brabant-Wallon is superb, with some of the best golf courses in Belgium including the Golf du Bercuit and Royal Waterloo Golf Club. With a choice of 13 golf courses within half an hour’s drive it is easy to understand why this is our most popular Belgian golf destination. The Martin’s Hotels group provides four fantastic hotels to choose from, the Chateau du Lac and Martin’s Lodge being the pick of the bunch.
For those who really want to live it up in the evening, Brussels is a great option. The Martin’s Central Park is well positioned and close to pubs and restaurants. The town of Mons is also a great group option, with plenty of bars and the Ibis Hotel in Mons is right in the centre of the lively town.
Golf courses in Belgium, although there are far fewer than some other European countries, are of extremely good quality and usually quite empty. This is a great alternative destination to experience good golf and good beer.
