Towering hills alongside the green at Prestonfield

Prestonfield Golf Course

18 holes, 70 par, 6207 yards. Parkland.

Prestonfield Golf Club has a very strong 18 hole layout, featuring some fantastic holes intertwined through some naturally beautiful landscape. There are some picturesque views to be had from this golf course, looking across the unique rolling hills surrounding this parkland gem and down the East Coast to North Berwick. This historic golfing venue is host to some special holes and is renowned for its long par 4’s, especially the memorable 14th hole which James Braid simply named ‘Dog Leg’.

Stunning greenside scenery at Baberton

Baberton Golf Course

18 holes, 69 par, 5893 yards. Parkland.

Although Baberton Golf Club isn’t renowned for its length, there are many tricky and interesting holes on this course. The USGA standard greens at Baberton are superb, with deceiving undulations and a true roll on each putt. This golf course is renowned for its tight fairways and demand for an accurate tee shot, so you have to play the percentage golf to score well. There are also a number of par 3’s that are over 200 yards, so this requires a good hit, especially if the Westerly wind picks up.

Tricky par 3 of the Braid Hills Golf Club surrounded by beautiful yellow gorse

Braid Hills Golf Course

18 holes, 71 par, 5865 yards. Heathland.

Although Braid Hills lacks length compared to the modern day golf courses, it more than makes up for it with the number of testing golf shots from one hilly crag to another. This is a course that rewards accuracy and punishes wayward shots. It is a heathland golf course with elements of moorland as well, which offers anyone playing some beautiful scenery and interesting holes. Known for its elevated tees and club selection importance, this is a great addition to the Edinburgh City Golf Tour.

Longniddry's club house

Longniddry Golf Course

18 holes, 68 par, 6186 yards. Parkland.

The generous fairways and large greens of Longniddry golf course will prove deceptive when straying off-line resulting in severe penalty for stray shot. There are also a number of well placed bunkers and punishing rough and gorse. Longniddry will test your abilities as a golfer having had four distinguished golf architects, including James Braid and Phillip Mackenzie Ross contribute their wisdom to create a truly challenging and enjoyable course. The clubhouse facilities include two bars and a dining room where you can relax after a testing game of golf. It is open from early until late providing the perfect opportunity to mingle with friends, family and fellow golfers. The ProShop is well stocked with your golfing essentials, including buggies and trolleys, and the friendly staff will happily arrange lessons to help you get the most out of your game.
