Dog & Bear Hotel hotel information
The Dog and Bear is a lovely hotel, set in the heart of Lenham, surrounded by the local sites. There is a very traditional feel about the place with a modern twist, with log fires and cosy corners to relax and enjoy your stay.
The Dog and Bear is set in a building that was constructed in 1602, and is steeped in history. The hotel was visited by Queen Anne and her coat of arms is displayed above the door. Each of the 24 bedrooms is decorated in a traditional yet luxurious style, with modern facilities for you to enjoy. Some of these include: Sky TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a radio alarm clock, internet access, a hairdryer and desk with a telephone. One of the bedrooms is something special, with a large four poster bed and plenty of space for you to relax.
Downstairs is a large 80 seat restaurant, with a lovely traditional menu of good, hearty pub food. A Sunday roast is always served on a Sunday and the menu is variable with the seasons and a lovely range of chef specials. With some ingredients sourced from local suppliers, this is the essence of Lenham and all its rural charm.
Things to see and do
Lenham is a pretty village in Maidstone with lots of rural character. There are lots of pubs and restaurants dotted all over the village, from Chinese to fish restaurants. The pubs and inns are cosy and warm, and some have some lovely terraces to enjoy a drink in the warm summer nights. Every other Sunday there is a market, full of stalls with some lovely food to try and local produce of the village. There are lots of independent shops to peruse and if you fancy a bit of history, take a wander around the pretty medieval town square or visit Godinton house, a beautiful historic house and garden.
