Overview

Chateau des Vigiers is a renowned 4-star luxury hotel, spa and golf resort set in the stunning countryside of Southern France. This beautiful 16th Century chateau is situated in the wine region and offers quality dining, first rate facilities and an extremely high standard of accommodation. In addition to the stunning chateau, guests also have the opportunity to stay in the more modern Relais des Vigiers.

Golf Courses

Onsite you have the three loops of nine – La Vallee, Les Vignes and Le Lac, which make up Golf des Vigiers. Opened in 1992, this spectacular course was designed by Donald Steel, a well-respected and renowned golf course architect. The resort promotes fast play and accessibility for higher handicaps - however the fast greens and thick rough can prove to be a test for anyone looking to play golf in France.

Accommodation

Chateau des Vigiers dates back to 1597 and is set in the beautiful terrain of the Dordogne. Within the complex, the venue offers two very different types of accommodation, The Chateau and The Relais.

Chateau des Vigiers is known locally as "Little Versailles" and was the creation of Jean Vigier, a royal judge. The Chateau was completely restored in 1992 and is furnished in a traditional French country house style. The Chateau itself has 25 individually decorated rooms (6 "Prestige" rooms, 12 “deluxe” rooms and 6 “Classic” rooms), each with authentic French design. The Dépendances Suites in particular, use local stone and old beams to great effect.

Relais des Vigiers is the more modern of the two accommodation types and was built under ECO friendly standards in 2008, using local resources. It has 40 spacious “Superior” rooms each with its own balcony or terrace with views over the chateau and Golf des Vigiers. Although this venue is very new and modern, each room still manages to maintain a traditional French feel so that you never forget where you are. All the rooms come equipped with an en-suite bathroom featuring an Italian shower, TV, Minibar and Wi-Fi.

Restaurant & Bars

Situated in the Chateau, Les Fresques is the venue’s award winning restaurant having earned a Michelin star at the beginning of 2014. The restaurant serves fresh local delicacies and offers an extensive wine list. The Le Chai brasserie is located a few yards from the Relais in the old wine making building. Here guests can enjoy some of the regional specialities as well as lighter lunches, either inside by the open fire, or on the outside terrace amidst the stunning surroundings. The resort also has a bar (Le 19) which is open from April to October every day until 7pm – perfect for having a drink after an exciting round of golf.

Chateau des Vigiers also produces high quality, award winning wines on its own 17 hectare wine estate. The multilingual staff are dedicated to offering you a professional but unobtrusive service ensuring that your stay there will be both relaxing and enjoyable, both on and off the golf course.

Spa & Leisure

Under the brasserie, they have the Spa by Sothys where guests can be pampered with professional facials and body treatments, or use the many spa facilities (hydrotherapy pool, sauna, Jacuzzi) with a supplement of €15 per person for 2 hours.

Location

Chateau des Vigiers is situated in Monestier, Dordogne, approximately 1 hour East of Bordeaux and 20 minutes South West of Bergerac Airport.

Nearby

Although Chateaux des Vigiers is a hub of activity and culture, outside of the complex guests are able to indulge in numerous activities. If you are looking to experience French culture then there are various markets in the area that sell local specialities and fresh produce. Wine tasting is also considered a must - Bergerac and Aquitaine are considered two of the finest places to enjoy the local wine and surrounding vineyards, including the likes of St. Emilion and Pomerol which are both within an hour’s drive.

There are also lots of sporting activities in the area which visitors can partake in. These include canoeing the Dordogne, sky diving, hot air ballooning, go-kart racing, water skiing, visiting the local aquarium, horse riding and 10 pin bowling.
