Pestana Golf Resort offers three magnificent golf courses in the fantastic Algarve region - Gramacho, Vale da Pinta and Silves Golf. There is also the Pestana Golf Academy which is located in the heart of the Pinta golf course and is a major attraction for golfers. All courses blend naturally into the undulating landscape with the fairways weaving artistically around the ancient olive trees. These three superb golf courses have been designed by golf architects Ron Fream and Nick Price and the Academy is a David Letterbetter creation. This is a fantastic golf resort and should be a top option for an Algarve holiday.
Pinta
18 holes, 71 par, 6728 yards. Parkland with lakes.Pinta Golf Course opened for play in 1992 and has a reputation for always being in excellent condition. This course has imported Bermuda grass to insure that the fairways are always in the finest form. This is a par 71, 6,728 yard golf course and is perfect for those golf connoisseurs. Most of the par 4’s and par 5’s utilise a dog leg and put major emphasis on accurate driving. Water hazards add to the challenge by coming into play and affecting four holes on the front nine.
Gramacho
18 holes, 71 par, 6679 yards. Parkland.Gramacho is Pinta’s sister course and is the second 18 hole championship course located at Carvoeiro Golf Club. It played host to the 2005 Portuguese Ladies Open and is one the few courses with 18 sets of tees and fairways but 27 greens. There are many exciting features on this golf course such as the outcrops of rock, dry stone walls, fig, almond, carob and olive trees and of course the bunkers and lakes. With a mixture of these hazards and the combination of the shapes of the fairways and greens this golf course can produce a great selection of challenging but fair golf holes.
Silves
18 holes, 70 par, 5134 yards. Parkland.Silves Golf Course is set in a serene spot with spectacular mountain and valley views and is definitely anything other than a walk in the park. The drive at the opening hole has to negotiate two water hazards on both flanks but a straight shot will reward the player with an easy uphill approach shot. Silves is a great golf course that encourages and rewards attacking play.

Morgado
18 holes, 73 par, 7300 yards
This superb golf course opened in 2003 and is one of the latest to open on the Algarve. Despite its young age, it feels surprisingly mature, a characteristic enhanced by the planting of 500 olive trees. Morgado features views of the Monchique Mountains and is set amongst valleys, rivers and woodland. With gently undulating fairways, deep bunkers and large tees and greens, Morgado is an excellent choice when travelling to the Algarve.

Palmares Golf Course

Rated 26th in the Top 100 Golf Courses in Europe, Palmares Golf Club is known as the Jewel in the Crown. The three nine hole loops – “Alvor”, “Lagos” and “Praia” - each have their own special characteristics. With stunning river views and links style golf near the beach, Palmares Golf course offers a unique golfing experience set in a spectacular setting, with views of rare beauty. Palmares is a mixture of links and inland and is situated in a stunning location close to the historic town of Lagos. Following the 6th hole, the course provides a different type of challenge as it turns back inland and towards the clubhouse featuring undulating valleys bordered by pine trees. Palmares is a fantastic option for those who are looking to play quality golf which combines a great blend of links and inland golf.

Alto Golf
18 holes, 72 par, 6698 yards. Parkland.
The last course designed by the legendry Sir Henry Cotton, Alto Golf embodies his belief that a golf course should test players with low handicaps but also provide a pleasant game for golfers of only average ability. Situated near the picturesque village of Alvor, the course offers extraordinary white sandy beaches, clear blue sea and fascinating cliffs which all add to its charm and character.
The par 72 course traverses two gently sloping valleys with the front nine offering stunning views of the bay of Lagos. The back nine, set against rolling slopes, offers quite a test and includes the (quite frankly) remarkable Sir Henry Cotton Challenge - a huge par 5. At 661 yards, it requires concentration and skill to ensure a respectable score. With gently undulating greens, the course also challenges your putting ability.

Salgados
18 holes, 72 par, 6080 yards. Links.
Salgados Golf Course follows a links style of play and is located in one of the best – known regions of the Algarve between Albufeira and Armacao de Pera Salgados. The golf course is situated within a wildfowl habitat between sand dunes and marshland and has been designed to flow perfectly with the surrounding area. The ground is relatively level however with so much water obstacles around the course, each whole still presents a different challenge. Accuracy is vital on this golf course so good concentration is a must. Salgados Golf consists of a varied selection of holes ranging from 185 yard par 3’s to 550 yard par 5’s. The best hole on the course is surely the first, where the view from the tee firmly stamps the character into the players mind. If you are looking for a golfing challenge that will really test your accuracy, then Salgados Golf will provide you with just that.

Boavista
18 holes, 71 par, 6620 yards. Parkland.
Boavista golf course was designed by Howard Swan, a renowned UK golf course architect. Adding a unique twist, the golf course has been split into 2 sections: the ‘Resort’ section and the ‘Country’ section. The ‘Resort’ section is made up of the 1st to 3rd and 13th to 18th holes, with some unique holes and pretty water features, attracting the local wildlife. The ‘Country’ section is comprised of the 4th -12th holes – the highlight of this section being the 6th which requires a tee shot over a ravine.
The undulations of the golf course provide stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and there are plenty of unrivalled par 3’s to test your skills. The signature hole for this golf course is the part 4 7th, with the best views on the entire course; the Atlantic Ocean can be seen clearly for miles and the hills of Monchique compliment it nicely – a truly memorable hole.
