Villamartin Golf Course Details

Villamartin Golf Course introduction

This golf course is a real gem, with plenty of interesting holes on offer to push golfers to the limit – low to mid handicappers should take extra care. It has also hosted many tournaments over the years, so there is something special here.

Villamartin Golf Course information

18 holes, 72 par, 6132 yards. Parkland.

This golf course was designed by Paul Putman and opened in 1972, making it one of the most established and matured golf courses in Valencia. It has been designed to fit closely with the natural terrain of the land, allowing for ravines and valleys to come into play, particularly in the back 9 holes. Olive trees frame some of the holes to add to the difficulty of the greens. Elevated tees in the first 9 holes show off the amazing views of the coastline in the distance, but adds to the challenge with the prevailing wind. The signature hole is the par 3 17th, with an elevated tee in which a strong drive is required to get past the water running across the fairway and ravine, to the tiered green. There are plenty of bunkers and trees surrounding, and accuracy can make or break you on this hole. There is also a pro shop, driving range, practise putting green, chipping area & bunker - ideal practice facilities before you head onto the golf course.

Great course and a good fair golf challenge. We were fortunate to play with players who had played the course before and advised on blind tee shots and course management. However, early October was very busy and our tee time was put back 2 hours by the course, also play was slow and eventual tee off was over 2 1/4 hours later than original. We finished in the dark. Not satisfactory for green fees paid.

Tunbridge Wells Honesty, polite
An incident left an unfortunate discomfort, after placing an order for drinks at the bar. I was with another person at the the time who saw me place a €10 note as part payment. The server, while having a conversation with her friend took the note without looking at it, I then found the change for the balance to which she claimed I still owed her €10. Very embarrassing with others in the bar, to try explain what she had done, and that I had paid in full.
