Villamartin Golf Course Details

Villamartin Golf Course introduction

This golf course is a real gem, with plenty of interesting holes on offer to push golfers to the limit – low to mid handicappers should take extra care. It has also hosted many tournaments over the years, so there is something special here.

Villamartin Golf Course information

18 holes, 72 par, 6132 yards. Parkland.

This golf course was designed by Paul Putman and opened in 1972, making it one of the most established and matured golf courses in Valencia. It has been designed to fit closely with the natural terrain of the land, allowing for ravines and valleys to come into play, particularly in the back 9 holes. Olive trees frame some of the holes to add to the difficulty of the greens. Elevated tees in the first 9 holes show off the amazing views of the coastline in the distance, but adds to the challenge with the prevailing wind. The signature hole is the par 3 17th, with an elevated tee in which a strong drive is required to get past the water running across the fairway and ravine, to the tiered green. There are plenty of bunkers and trees surrounding, and accuracy can make or break you on this hole. There is also a pro shop, driving range, practise putting green, chipping area & bunker - ideal practice facilities before you head onto the golf course.

Slow pace of play and almost gave up with 6 buggies waiting on one tee. Took 3 hours to complete the first 9 holes and 2 and a half the back 9. Blind holes made it difficult to know when to hit. Our tee time was not given to the course by the hotel compounding the overcovercrowding. A painfully drawn out day.

My first golf trip to Spain for a good few years. For all the reasons we stopped travelling to Spain Villamartin sums it all up. Tired scrubby golf course (good greens), exceptionally slow pace of play we stood around for ages between shots 5hrs 50minutes it was shocking we spoke to a guy on a ranger cart about it he shrugged his shoulders. We will never return
