Melbourne Lodge has been restored to its former glory, with all the bedrooms gracefully furnished and exclusive access to the 2 restaurants and fantastic golf courses on the estate. Guests will feel so at ease here, surrounded by elegance and history.
Each room is individually unique in its décor, and each are named after famous racehorses with a history of guests who have stayed there. These details really give each room character and a more comfortable feel. Each room is well equipped, with a spacious bathroom and all the amenities: 24 hour room service on request, television, tea and coffee facilities and a telephone.
There are two restaurants for guests to try: Auberge du Lac has developed a strong reputation for it’s fantastic food and has been named a ‘destination restaurant’. This was once a hunting lodge, which is now also known for its cellar and the superb cuisine served here; this is certainly worth a visit. The Watershyppes Restaurant has an outdoor terrace, in which you can sip your apertif and take in the breathtaking views of the gently undulating parkland. The food here also has a great reputation, so you are spoiled for choice on wonderful food here.
Things to see and do
Welwyn Garden City is a short drive away, if you fancy leaving Brocket Hall for the night. A fine food and crafts market is held here every first and third Saturday of the month, with lots of treats to try. There are also lots of pubs to have a quiet drink, and some lovely restaurants. There is even a skating rink, the only one in Hertfordshire – ideal for a family day out. Digswell Viaduct also resides here – a striking railway viaduct that is in between Welwyn and Digswell.
