Brabazon Course at The Belfry Details

Golf at The Belfry

Playing a round at The Belfry is a real treat for any golfer. Known as the ‘spiritual’ home to the Ryder Cup, having held the prestigious tournament four times, there are two superb championship courses - The Brabazon Golf Course and PGA National to test your skills on. The shorter Derby course makes for a pleasant alternative to the two championship courses yet still provides a challenge for players of all abilities.

Brabazon Course at The Belfry

18 holes, 72 par, 7251 yards. Parkland.

The Brabazon course has witnessed some of the most dramatic golfing moments in Ryder Cup history. The Brabazon first held the tournament in 1985, and has since gone from strength to strength. The golf course was designed by Dave Thomas and Peter Allis and is always kept in pristine condition with lightning-fast greens and treacherous bunkers adding to the challenge of the layout.

The signature holes are the 10th and the 18th. The 10th is a unique short par 4, approximately 300 yards in length, with water running along the right hand side of the fairway. Made famous in the 1985 Ryder Cup when golf legend Seve Ballesteros twice drove the green, it has truly become one of the most memorable holes in golf.

Sam Torrance also famously secured victory for Europe in the 1985 Ryder Cup on the 18th hole, a dramatic closing par 4 dominated by water. There are plenty of fantastic moments that have occurred on the Brabazon throughout the years, so it is a perfect opportunity for golfers to experience it for themselves.

Played it after a few days of rain so was pretty wet. However it's a great layout with some very challenging and tight holes.
The front 9 has plenty of water to avoid and the back 9 challenges with lots of bunkers and tight drives.
