13 - 10, in Europe's favour
After a jubilant Sunday and high spirits for the unprecedented extra day for the singles, we were all in high spirits, ready to watch a flood of points for the European side. We weren't expecting to see the Americans pull this many matches back in their favour though.
As every hole dropped, the office was in a frenzy of mathematical calculations. Working out what needed to happen for Monty's men to have the chance to raise the eponymous trophy in the Welsh valley.
Tiger starts an incredible run, beating down poor Francesco - who has had an exemplary game himself.
13 - 11
Eduardo starts to lose holes faster than a hacker loses golf balls to the trees. We can't believe what we're seeing, as Fowler fights a dormie match and wins the half point.
13 1/2 -11 1/2
We're all getting nervous now. Mickelson and Johnson are holding steady on their leads, and the poor boys in blue can't seem to break them.
13 1/2 - 13 1/2
The office is at a standstill, faces glued to what we're seeing. After yesterday, could they really fight back and retain the Cup? All eyes are on Graeme McDowell at the 16th. The fate of the Ryder Cup lies on these last few holes. McDowell makes his putt, we all groan as it slows down, approaching the cup.
Then, a turn of luck. The ball drops in. This could still be our moment. Some of us can't sit down. The tension is unbearable.
We share sympathy with them as they walk to the tee box, their nerves must be in overdrive. We're practically on holiday in comparison. McDowell lands short near the bunker, and the more pessimistic of us start writing the Cup off - "See you in 2 years.". Then Mahan duffs his shot. Hope resonates between all of us. We're all on a knife edge as McDowell makes his putt and we watch it roll amicably towards the hole.
Then the moment comes - make or break. The last shot. None of us had ever expected it to come down to this when we came into work this morning. We're all giddy with delirium as we watch Mahan overshoot, and concede to McDowell.
14 1/2 - 13 1/2
A cheer. A clap. The office erupts in a symphony of relief and joy! Europe have the Cup again, on our own home turf.
As we settle back down to work, everyone reflects on what has been one of the most exciting, unpredictable and tense sporting moments of our lives.
This is why we love the Ryder Cup, and this is certainly why we love golf.
