    Hilton Avisford Park hotel information

The recently refurbished Hilton Avisford Park Hotel was once the home of Sir George Montagu and a Roman Catholic preparatory school for boys before its transformation to its current status began in 1975. Situated just three miles from the historic town of Arundel, the 4* hotel is ideally placed to explore the surrounding area and its attractions including Goodwood Races, Arundel Castle and Chichester Cathedral. The hotel retains many charming features from its varied history including the names of the former head boys preserved in original oak panelling in its fine dining restaurant. The Livingwell health club offers a fully air-conditioned gymnasium, indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools, sauna, steam room, solarium and health and beauty salon. What's more, its location in the heart of the South Downs provides the perfect setting for clay pigeon shooting, flying and driving experiences.

Golf course well kept. Tee off times poorly managed. 24 competition going out back to back with 4 balls course absolutely backed up and took nearly 5 hours to play which for a short course is terrible.

General manager managed to 'squeeze' us on the next morning before the 24. I say squeeze as he only allocated one slot and we had to manage to slot ourselves in- this should be managed by a course starter.
Buggies were a joke. Only 3 available. Booked through golf breaks. Double checked with golf breaks buggies booked. Triple checked by phoning on the Monday to check they were booked- they were. Get to the Sunday - guess what. Only one buggy booked! How hard can it be! There's only 3 buggies can't be that hard. And the buggies are 30 per cart which is a rip off.
Food in clubhouse good and great value. Hotel rooms are not Hilton quality but will do. Food in the restaurant was brilliant although watch the price of the house wine. 2 bottles in and were £50 lighter.

Arundel short taxi ride. Great little array of bars and pubs with fantastic ales.

Pit that the golf course management for the buggies and tee offs is not better. Would recommend that they have a real think about this as clearly the course is rammed full of local members until 10am and then back to back with golf breaks. As its a short course they need to stagger 3 and 4 balls and have a gentle nudge on the course. On the sat on a number of holes we were waiting 5-10 minutes to tee off.
