Westport Golf Club stunning mountainous backdrop

Westport Golf Club

18 holes, 72 par, 7072 yards. Parkland.

The origins of Westport officially date back to 1926, when Westport Golf Club was formed as a 9 hole course. Situated near the townland of Carowholly, the club moved to its present location in 1973 and has matured into one of the finest parkland courses in the west of Ireland. In this course of two distinct halves, the opening nine is relatively straightforward but a long back nine calls for character.

Connemara

18 holes, 74 par, 6803 yards. Links.

The par of 72 is rarely achieved on this spectacular 7,229 yard Atlantic links course. This could be influenced by the invigorating air and breathtaking scenery, but more probably due to the vastness of the last six holes and the shattered rocks that are dotted around the fairways. Greens set high in the hillside on the 14th and 15th can be unnerving, particularly after playing the most testing short 13th! Take time, however, to marvel at the splendid scenic backdrop of the Twelve Bens, etched against the skyline and Ballyconneely Bay, dusted with pure, white sand.

Atlantic Coast Hotel, Westport, Ireland

Ballinrobe

18 holes, 73 par, 6800 yards. Parkland.

Established 1895, Ballinrobe Golf Club is reputed to be the finest in the West of Ireland. This scenic parkland golf course will offer a challenge to any golfer with its mature trees, man-made lakes, lush fairways and traditional stone walls. Designed by Eddie Hackett, Ballinrobe looks like a golf course that has been in existence for 100 years.

Enniscrone Golf Club

18 holes, 73 par, 6877 yards. Links.

This spectacular course dates back to 1918 and has been extended and modified over the years by both Eddie Hackett and more recently, Donald Steel. This spectacular location on the Bartragh Peninsula, boasts some of the finest golfing terrain in the world and is famed for the magnificent sunsets that are seen from the impressive dunes. Enniscrone was the host to the Irish Close Championship in 1993.
