Amarilla Golf and Country Club Details

Amarilla Golf and Country Club introduction

This 18-hole par 72 course designed by Donald Steel has gently undulating terrain and takes advantage of the contrasts of the island, which makes it a varied course between ravines and the Atlantic Coast.

Amarilla Golf and Country Club information

    18 holes, 72 par, 5431 yards. Parkland / Links.

The designer, Donald Steel, was able to take advantage of the beautiful contrasts of the island to achieve a varied course between ravines and the Atlantic Coast. The most impressive part of the course reaches its peak at the 5th hole where an accurate shot across the sea is needed in order to reach the green. The gently undulating terrain and well maintained holes make for a challenging yet highly enjoyable round.

Not a bad course, but it does feel as if it hasn't been properly finished. A few of the greens had been heavily sanded and were not good. The general service at the club and the catering were good and the welcome friendly.

We arrived at the course to be told we had to go off Hole 8 to start? this was disappointing
when our tee time had been booked for many weeks in advance.
The Course was not in great condition? A lot of dirt/waste areas and 5 or 6 of the Greens were covered in sand which made it impossible to putt on?
Service not great at Reception, Had to ask 3 times were we got the buggies and were the starter person was?? Overall not a good experience. If we go back to Tenerife again? we would not be visiting this course.

I wanted to love this course - half of the holes were excleent and absolutley first class - half were not - felt a bit "put together" - The 2 short holes over water are excellent and will be rememeberd for years to come
